Imagine my surprise the other day, when my wife proclaimed out of nowhere, “I Wrote You A Letter”.
I had just come off a grueling set of overnight shifts at work and for some reason, this news was exciting to me. My wife and I don’t usually exchange love letters so this was a nice touch.
I waited with expressionless excitement as she came closer, letter in hand. This could really be the boost we needed after some crummy weather and lazy days had gone by. What could the letter even be about?!
Maybe it wasn’t a love letter at all! Maybe it’s a Dear John letter! This couldn’t be. How could she do this to me? We have kids dammit!! Kids! Everything seemed to be going so well, what went wrong?!
Now I began to sweat with fear as she drew near. I have a good list of lawyers to help me with the lengthy custody battle but am I ready for that? Can we afford it? Can we afford to put our kids through that!?
The time was here and now. She handed the letter over and my pulse reached a peak like never before. I glanced down, not sure what I was about to read and was amazed at the words printed on the paper.
Frig.
