It’s time to feature some American heroes. Men who have served for their country in the military, as a cop, or a fireman, while at the same time being an incredible dad at home.
Today, we feature P.F.C. Brookshire John, a member of the 1450th Motor Transportation Company.
John is 26 years old, married to a wonderful wife, with three amazing kids who all have special needs. John has served his country as a Marine for four years, and was stationed in Iraq for seven months. Currently, John is in the Army National Guard, based in North Carolina.
Adopted at the age of six, and raised in a military family, John played many sports before joining the Marines at 18 years old. When he was 21 years old, and just after his tour in Iraq, John met his wife, quickly fell in love, and immediately became family with her daughters, Lacey and Savannah.
Soon after, they found out they were expecting their own child, and were told they would lose him during birth due to a congenital heart defect. After months of prayer, Timothy was born, and has since had 25 different surgeries. Along with the rare heart defect, Timothy was born with a cleft pallet, and trisomny 16, which John says no kid has survived until now. Timothy is now four years old.
Lacey, John’s oldest stepdaughter is ten and has autism, as well as severe ADHD. Lacey was born at 22 weeks, weighing less than a pound, and now she is in 4th grade.
Savannah was born with a cleft pallet and just one kidney, and is now nine years old, in 3rd grade.
John says “I do everything to take care of my family…they mean the world to me, and I thank God everyday for them. My family may not have perfect health, but with our hearts and us together, we make up an awesome family full of love and hope.”
We salute you, John Brookshire. Thanks for being such an incredible dad, husband, and hero for the United States.
