So, being at work most of the day means that I miss a lot of time with my daughter.  However, when I get home from work, I am usually on bath duty; which up until a little bit ago was some good quality time.  Josie has always loved her bath time, so it was always an easy chore.  She would lay there, smile and maybe chew on one of her toys as I would clean her up, and then get her ready for bed.  As you can probably tell from all of the usage of the past tense, things have changed.

Bath time now has now become and all out water war.  If you saw me exit the bathroom after, you probably couldn’t tell which one of us was IN the tub!  I think her goal now has become how fast she can get all of the water out of her little tub, and Daddy has become collateral damage in her quest.  She slaps the water around like she’s trying to race Michael Phelps in the 200m freestyle.  At this point, I’ve given into the fact that you will get wet on this ride.

As if this wasn’t enough to handle during the bath…enter our chocolate lab, Cash.  Anyone who has been around labs probably knows that they love water.  I should clarify.  Usually they love water, but aren’t too crazy about baths.  If I have to give Cash a bath, most of the time I have to trick him into the bathroom, shut the door to trap him in there, and wrestle him into the tub.  Then of course during the bath, I have to constantly hold him with one hand so he doesn’t escape.  This usually requires a bathing suit as he always decides to shake at the worst times.

So, knowing this one would think Cash wouldn’t want to come anywhere near the bathroom when I ‘m giving Josie a bath.  WRONG!  In fact it’s quite the opposite.  If he even hears the sound of the faucet running, he takes off up the stairs.  I actually have to hold him back from going IN the tub with Josie!  He now has taken to; I shit you not, sitting on the toilet with his front paws on the floor between the tub and toilet just so he can lean over Josie in the tub.  And by the way, the more Josie splashes the more excited Cash gets.  He will actually stick his head under the water trying to “hunt” for Josie’s rubber ducky.  Once he notices that Josie has it in her mouth, he’ll wait for her to drop it to make his move.  Then, of course, I’m stuck trying to get the duck from him while at the same time keeping an eye on Josie.  Anyone think I can just train Cash to give her a bath??
