Jay (Dad) and Riley (Kid) of the Masters of Fun kids’ music podcast here on Life Of Dad get some stuff to review from time to time. This is the best of that stuff!
Jay: Thinking Putty is like Silly Putty on steroids. For $13.95 you get a big round tin of putty that you can stretch, bounce and break. What’s great about it is that it doesn’t dry out (it went missing under our couch cushion for several days), doesn’t stick to stuff and doesn’t stain. We got the Great Pumpkin color, which along with Monster Mash are limited Halloween colors that glow in the dark. You can get yours for $13.95 at PuttyWorld.com
Riley: It’s really cool, you can model it into whatever you want, like bunnies, a croissant, and necklaces and bracelets that are totally fashionable. I like to twist it and swirl it and stretch it out real long and play with it like a jump rope. You have to hold it close to a light if you want it to glow in the dark.
WorryWoos
Riley: Worry Woos are cuddly stuffed animals and books to help kids feel better about their worries. Your job is to help your Worry Woos to feel better and they will help you feel better too. I got Nola, her worry is loneliness. She comes with a book that tells her story of how she was lonely and found a friend. Nola is part dragon and part monster and is soft and nice to sleep with, in fact, she’s in my bed right now.
Jay: The Worry Woos are a great line of stuffed animals and books for kids who have specific things they are dealing with. There are characters who worry about loneliness, insecurity, confusion, frustration and more for your child to relate to. The books are simple to understand and have a very cool style to them. The plush and book set costs $36.00 and you can find out more at WorryWoos.com
Jay: The Kaossilator 2 has fast become the sought after gadget in our car, beating out both the iPad and the iPod. This awesome gadget is a music studio in a handheld device, that lets you create drum loops and play music live to it, while also letting you record and output your music to mp3. For any music oriented families, you’ll have a blast making your own songs, especially using the built-in microphone to record your voices right into the Kaossilator. The learning curve isn’t too bad either, 6 year olds should be able to pick it up quickly with a little help from a parent. The Kaossilator 2 goes for $159.99 at is at Korg.com/Kaossilator2.
Riley: I love to play with this, I wish the batteries never ran out. It is way cool because I can change the beats and tempos and can switch sounds and make my own beats too. Once, my brother said “I think you’re hot” into it and we recorded it and put a background to it and it was an awesome dance song. I totally think you should buy it too.
