With thirty days until Father’s Day, we will be featuring a different dad each day from around the world. We begin with the words of Chris Nichols:
My name is Chris Nichols, I have a beautiful wife Jennifer and an amazing son Parker (PJ). I recently began blogging over at Rated4andUp. I am very new to the field of blogging and I created Rated4andUp as a place for me to ramble about raising my son, things currently happening in my life, and the crazy world around us. Many of the things I will write about will involve my 4 year old son PJ and all of our adventures together. My main interests and hobbies currently revolve around my son and whatever he enjoys doing, which is usually super hero related. Being a dad has been the most fulfilling experiences of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I look forward to every new day and all of the amazing things he might learn or say or do. I will continue to learn and grow as a writer and blogger; and maybe someday even write a children’s book. But for now, I’m just going to take things day by day and enjoy as much time with my son and my wife as I possibly can.
My first memory as a father is… Taking a picture of my son with his feet still inside my wife during the C-Section. It’s a great picture and a very emotional moment.
The funniest thing my son does is… He likes to take off all of his clothes and yell “Naked!” while running through the house.
What’s in your man cave? I don’t really have a man cave since it basically became Parker’s play room, but if I did have a man cave I think it would most likely include my laptop, iPad and all necessary TV and video equipment. There would be some type of table game, probably table tennis and of course a really nice poker table.
My wife is my hero because… She was a natural mother from day one. She made homemade baby food, cooked, cleaned, changed diapers and never complained about it. She took it upon herself to learn all about our son’s needs and all areas of his development. Even after returning to the workforce she continued to stay current on the trends and needs of a growing boy. She has made me a better father through her efforts as a mother.
What did you get your baby’s Mama for Mother’s Day? A quad fold picture frame in which I placed two pictures of her with our son; one on day 1 when he was born, and the other was her with him on Halloween last year. I also inserted his right and left hand prints.
If you and your wife could vacation without your kids, where would you go? Out west to the Rocky Mountains, most likely Glacier National Park in Montana or The Grand Tetons.
If you could go on any vacation with your kids, where would you go? Disney World in Orlando and all of the parks in the area. Our son would get a real kick out of all of those characters he knows and loves.
What’s your favorite meal to cook for your kids? I love to make him pancakes. Mostly because he loves to eat them.
What sports team must your kids like? The Minnesota Gophers hockey team.
What sports team can your kids never like? The North Dakota Sioux hockey team.
Describe your perfect Father’s Day. My perfect father’s day would begin with me being awakened by my son climbing into the bed between me and my wife to watch some cartoons. Then we would all go downstairs and make breakfast together. We would spend the rest of the day either at the lake fishing and skipping rocks or going to the zoo for a picnic. If the weather was bad we would all just spend the day inside playing board games and watching movies.
