stump 2Father’s Day is fifteen days away and we are still going strong here at Life of Dad for the 30 Dads for 30 Days campaign.  We are getting down to the homestretch, so to speak as we enter the month of June. Today we get to shine the spotlight on one of my great and dear friends John Stump.

Just like with Brian Howlett, who was featured last month for the 30 for 30 here at Life of Dad, Stump is a like a brother to me. I have known him since seventh grade and he has always been there for me. He is the godfather to my oldest daughter and I am the godfather for his oldest daughter.

If you listen to the Life of Dad show with Tom Riles and myself you would have heard John speak to us on the topic of autism. You can listen to our conversation here.

John is in the Navy and I am very proud and thankful for the service he provides for our country. He is a HUGE Boston sports fan. (As you will see in his answers below.) I have to give him credit as he is one of the main reasons that I became a Boston Red Sox fan.

John is a loving father and enjoys spending time with his two daughters Cayde and Caroline. He and his wife Shannon do so much for their daughters to make sure that they both know how much they are loved. I enjoy when we get together. It is fun to see my daughters play with his daughters. I am looking forward to this summer as we are planning to meet up a couple times with his family and go to a Red Sox game.

stumpMy first memory as a father is…..sitting in the prep room outside the OR where Cayde was born.  Shannon was being sewn up, and Cayde was brought to me.  I think it was the first time I actually held a baby before.  It was a one of the only truly life altering moments that you recognize as it is happening.

The funniest thing my children do is…..their conversations with each other are just hilarious if you can understand them.
