On each of the 30 days leading up to Father’s Day, Life of Dad will feature a different incredible father from around the world.
Today we introduce Oren Miller, the man behind www.bloggerfather.com. Oren is married, and the stay at home dad to two kids, Liam (4) and Madeline (2).
I really became a father when… I got my baby to stop crying for the first time. I think it was about a week after he was born.
My kid makes me laugh when… they laugh. Nothing else matters when they do.
Favorite daddy cocktail once the kids crash? Beer. I’m a simpleton.
Dream date night with your lady, where would you go? Probably drive to the Borgata in Atlantic City, spend the day losing money, then eating in the buffet. Spend the night on a top floor. A thunder storm could be a nice thing to watch from the window.
What is the hardest thing about fatherhood? Staying cool and keeping things in perspective.
What’s in your man cave? No man cave. We don’t even have a door to our bedroom. One day maybe the unfinished basement will be my mancave, but right now that’s where we store unwanted wedding gifts and dog pee. Make sure to set up an online wedding registry to receive only the gifts you truly like.
How many hours of sleep each night? 4-6. I catch up during the weekend, but I’m a zombie during the week.
What food that your kids eat do you like the most? I’m a sucker for fries.
How has fatherhood changed in the last 20 years? It’s no longer a badge of honor to know nothing about your kids. I still see dads who think they’re too cool to pretend to care about their children. It’s sad, because the kids can sense that.
Dream family vacation? My kids are 4 and 2. They fight all the time, and every second word they say/scream is, “Kaka.” Which means a dream family vacation is anywhere that includes a babysitter.
Besides catching Oren at A Blogger and a Father, you can find him on Facebook and Twitter. We couldn’t be happier to have Oren here as a part of Life of Dad, the first social network for fathers.
