On each of the 30 days leading up to Father’s Day, Life of Dad will feature a different incredible father from around the world.
Today we introduce Scott Schuchard, the brains behind www.simplefather.com. Scott is married with two young daughters, working as a web developer in the St. Louis area. On to Scott’s interview…
I really became a father when… the nurses wheeled my wife out to the recovery room, and I was left staring at a precious little child, cooking under a heat lamp, thinking to myself… hmmm, what am I supposed to do here.
My oldest daughter makes me laugh when… she tries does impressions of me. She get’s her best deep daddy voice and starts mocking me, much to the amusement of my wife.
My youngest daughter makes me laugh when… she tries to throw flying elbows at my face. It ends up not being funny, as I cower in fear, but I find it hilarious that her definition of “roughhousing” with dad includes continuous headshots.
Favorite daddy cocktail once the kids crash? I don’t always drink, but when I do, it’s usually a Fat Tire
Dream date night with your lady, where would you go? This would change seasonally, but right now, patio seating a nice quiet restaurant, dinner and drinks, and being able to talk about grownup stuff without being 1) interrupted or 2) exhausted sounds like an exceptional date… followed by dessert at The Chocolate Bar in St. Louis.
What is the hardest thing about fatherhood? Admitting I don’t know everything.
What’s in your man cave? Quickly aging electronics… these darn kids keep using up my funds!
How many hours of sleep each night? 5
What food that your kids eat do you like the most? Mac and Cheese
How has fatherhood changed in the last 20 years? The community of fathers has grown immensely. I’m just speculating here, since I wasn’t a father 20 years ago, but with the boom of social media, parenting resources, both good and bad, are more available than ever.
Dream family vacation? Cape Town South Africa. It has it all, surfing, surfers getting eaten by sharks, mountains, city life and stuff generally not seen here in the US.
Besides catching Scott at Simple Father you can find him on Facebook and Twitter. We couldn’t be happier to have Scott here as a part of Life of Dad, the first social network for fathers.
