Veggies are good for you. School is fun. Your parents are the coolest.
While I did receive a product from Cuddletunes, I did not receive compensation for this review. The opinions stated are mine.
Teddy bears have been around for forever. Or at least since 1902.
The details are sketchy at best, but many believe that the birth of the teddy bear came with our 26th President of the United States – Mr. Theodore Roosevelt. As a result of a political cartoon that satirized a hunting trip involving a cub that President Roosevelt refused to kill, the “Teddy Bear” was invented.
The teddy bear of Teddy’s time was original. Now, the teddy bear of our time is innovative. The good folks at Cuddletunes sent me one of their MP3 teddy bears to review. To put it bluntly, it is quite popular in my house. I had to sneak the bear out of my daughter’s possession to do this review.
I was able to order and personalize the bear in a matter of minutes online. It was shipped to me preloaded with a personalized soundtrack. The look on my daughter’s face when the songs had her name in them? Priceless.
I should mention that we have another bear in our household, actually two – one for my daughter and one for my son, that also says the name of the child. Here’s the difference. Those bears are good, but they have a very limited playlist. The Cuddletunes Bear is essentially an MP3 player within a bear – which means that there are more possibilities. You can upload songs, messages, and stories. As a bonus, songs, messages, and stories can be recorded from other computers and saved onto the account. This means that the bear could be in one state or country while a family member half way around the globe could share a story or song with the bear through the Cuddletunes site. This is an awesome thing for our family since my parents are a state away and my mom is a great storyteller. Now she can share stories that my daughter can play over and over again.
In about five minutes, I was able to connect the bear to my PC, upload a song to my account on Cuddletunes, record a message, and synchronize the bear to the playlist that I created. The sound quality and volume of the bear is impressive. In case the volume is too impressive, there are volume and track controls clearly displayed on the paws of the bear.
It is very user friendly – even for a kid. It is even friendlier for the adults setting it up. The USB cord and switch are hidden in the back of the bear, but easily accessed through a Velcroed slit. No more searching for cords – everything is connected.
All in all, The Captain is impressed with the Cuddletunes Bear. My daughter loves this bear. This is a great gift for any kid. This is an especially great gift for families that may have members spread out a bit. Whether it is a grandparent hundreds of miles away, a parent deployed in the military, or maybe a child that is in the midst of a hospital stay, the Cuddletunes Bear accomplishes its mission: “help families stay close through the power of story, song, and the human voice.”
Now if you will excuse me, I am off to record some subliminal messages to play for my daughter in her sleep. My goal is to get her to always believe that veggies are good, school is fun, and her parents are the coolest. Wish me luck.
Captain out.
