We asked this question just as Voltron came back to life on Netflix so we’ll forgive the lack of “Voltron” in these responses, but guys, c’mon, VOLTRON IS BACK!!
Also, we’d like to shout out to Jeff Bogle’s family’s favorite cartoon of all time, Over the Garden Wall, a 10-part miniseries that originally aired in late 2014. It is a bizarre, deep, thoughtful and hilarious modern classic that everyone should watch.
Now, off to discover more great kid’s TV as recommended by the real moms and dads of the Life of Dad Facebook community.
John Cornish: Phineas and Ferb. I honestly believe it’s one of the best shows ever created.
Elizabeth C. Short: My favorites are Peg + Cat, it’s a little girl and her cat that solve math problems on PBS Kids.
Yvette Griego: Now that Netflix has brought back some classics I have been trying to get my kids into Fraggle Rock but they aren’t having it!
Rene Hughes: I play classic Sesame Street clips off YouTube. Grover the waiter. Sesame Street news, old Bert and Ernie!
Scott Reid: Daniel Tiger and Sesame Street I feel give a great foundation of learning and manors. Also, my son really got into the old Mr. Rogers Neighborhood episodes on YouTube.
Ty Dale: I know these are for older kids but Star Wars Clone Wars, Ben 10 and Johnny Test are my favorites.
The Rookie Dad: Odd Squad… best TV show on TV period. Both entertaining for adults AND educational for kids.
Juana Garcia: I love Dinosaur Train and Super Why. My kiddo started writing words after watching Super Why and I even learn stuff from Dinosaur Train.
Russ Howe: The Amazing World of Gumball. Essentially Family Guy for kids.
Sam Rodriguez: My 5yr old likes makeup tutorials and video reviews? I think I’m in trouble.
Brian McGough: Blaze and the Monster Machines. It teaches kids engineering concepts. Pretty cool.
Jamie Hack: Can’t beat Thomas The Tank Engine from Ringo Star to the modern version.
Jem Medhurst: Pocoyo is my son’s favourite, narrated by Stephen Fry. It’s a really lovely cartoon.
Finally, Alejandro Flores speaks for all parents when he says (caps lock his):
“NOT CAILLOU”
