A little about myself! I’m a dad and I love the kitchen. I’ve been in professional kitchens earlier in life (it almost feels like another life now) but, still like to keep up some of the basic skills and creativity. I’ve heard many times “Oh, I could never do that! I would never have time for that!” Or have even been asked for quick simple recipes to spice up meal times. So this is where it all starts, I want to bring the passion back to the kitchen or at least make life simpler. It doesn’t matter about your background or experience, whether you’re a pop tart connoisseur, a microwave master or grill sergeant! My aim is to put out helpful tips and tricks to make you “the daddy of the kitchen”
Parmesan and chive topper
So, a little bit of background behind this recipe, this is fast and easy but most importantly, it’s versatile and tastes amazing. I’m talking about the difference between “plain Jane chicken” and your kids scraping their plates asking for more. I mentioned it’s versatility because you can use it to coat chicken, totally 180 a burger, or make pastry exciting again. Even better if you use dried chives, this magic mixture keeps and can be stored in your fridge to use over and over again. Whether you are BBQ man and want to give a little kick to your burgers, or just a parent desperate to try something new and step away your usual routine, this is a real opportunity to walk into the kitchen, roll up your sleeves, and show dinner time who’s the daddy!
What’s in it?
Parmesan (obviously) half a cup
Hand full of fresh chives (this can easily be substituted with one onion finely chopped)
1 tsp of garlic crushed or fresh
1 tsp of mustard
Seasoning (to taste I normally use cracked black pepper)
Optional: mayonnaise
What’s next?
Grab a bowl… Mix everything in together… Yup, that’s it! Sprinkle on top of burgers steak or even chicken! Quick tip of you mix your topper with 2-3 TB of mayonnaise you get a lovely golden effect on the chicken!
That’s it?
Honestly that’s it, you can store it in an airtight container and stick it in the fridge to use as needed or use fresh! I wanted to start with a simple recipe something that is so easy it wont intimidate any one to try. Id love to hear back from people who tried this to find out what it was used on and how it turned out. Stay tuned for more exciting recipes, hints, tips and tricks! Remember when it comes to dinner “you’re the daddy”!
