This week was truly wonderful Life of Dad moment in the MLB. Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez shared his proud dad moment on his Twitter account talking about his son, Dereck making his MLB debut for the San Francisco Giants.
Getting called up to the Bigs….
Even though Pudge made a name for himself as a catcher, Dereck is a pitcher. He might have had some training at a young age when he would play catch with his dad. Pudge would assume the role of catcher and Dereck could have pitched to him.
This past Tuesday Dereck made his debut for the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.
Dereck Rodriguez pitched 3 1/3 innings in relieve after starter Jeff Samardzija. Unfortunately Dereck left after one inning due to injury. His first two innings were scoreless, but because of a fielding error in the fourth led to three unearned runs.
He even hit an RBI double at the plate. Dereck started his career an outfielder before transitioning to pitching in 2014.
