Heads I win

Heads I win

A joke that’ll take 10 years to tell … but so worth it!

If you like practical jokes, you’ll like this post. When I was 7-10 years old, I used to watch a TV show on Sunday mornings called “Drawing with Capt Bob”. (It was actually called “The Nature World of Capt Bob”). One morning my mom looked at the TV and said something like, “hey, I know him, that’s my uncle!”.  From then on, Sunday mornings became “Drawing with Uncle Bob” for me!

Fast forward … to when I’m in college … one day it dawns on me, so I ask my mom, “what ever happened to Uncle Bob” … my mothers’ reply was “who?”  … “Remember I used to draw on Sunday mornings with …” … “BAH HA H HA HA HA !!!”  (Yes, that was her reply.)  At that very second, I realized I had no Uncle Bob!  Mom was entertaining herself at her kids expense.  And I was the punchline …

I thank my mom for my love for practical jokes.  Mom’s been gone for 13 years and never had the pleasure of meeting my kids, however, they are currently feeling the brunt of my mom’s practical joke, being channeled through me!

This started when each of my kids were learning to speak and comprehend the world. What’s that maybe 18-24 months old or so?  As I type, my kids are 6 and 4.  If you hand either of them an ordinary penny, point to heads and ask, “who’s that” … yes, you got it … they’re reply is “MY DADDY!”

I’d give anything to be there the moment they find out …

Thanks mom!
