Thor Ragnarok

When you saw Thor and Thor 2: The Dark World you got brought into the magical world of Asgard. I remember when my daughters saw Thor for the first time. They both gasped at the wonder and beauty of Asgard. They really enjoyed Thor and the other characters. I love introducing my kids to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just like me they are really enjoying these films. I am looking forward to my kids watching Thor: Ragnarok.

In any sequel we are introduced into new characters. In Thor: Ragnarok we have the pleasure to meet a bunch of fascinating people. I want to put the spotlight on two of the new characters. They are Korg and Valkyrie. For me these two were so much fun to watch.

Let’s take a look at each one.

Korg-Thor-Ragnarok

Korg in Thor Ragnarok

Korg:

Directing a film with such high expectations is hard enough, but when you direct and act in the film things can get even more stressful. For Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi he made it look very easy. Not only did Taika direct the film, but he played the role of Korg.

If push comes to shove I would say that Korg was one of the best roles if not the best role in the film. From the first time we see Korg, who looks like a big pile of rocks we get to understand his character right off the bat.

His first words in the film were, “Over here. This pile of rocks waving at you. I’m actually a thing, I’m a being. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Korg. I’m kind of like the leader in here. I’m made of rocks, as you can see, but don’t let that intimidate you. You don’t need to be afraid, unless you’re made of scissors! Just a little Rock, Paper, Scissors joke for you.”

Waititi used a soft, gentle voice for Korg which made him even more likable and unforgettable. I may have ordered Korg shirts and got a Korg Funko POP! after seeing the film in theaters. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe he is one of my favorite characters.

Korg is a Kronan warrior who resides on Sakaar. He was forced to become one of the Grandmaster’s champions on the planet Sakaar after his rebellion against him failed when he was unable to collect enough support. Upon meeting the Asgardian Prince Thor, Korg and his friend Miek helped him escape Sakaar with Hulk.

I hope we get see more of Korg as more Marvel movies come out! Anytime I watch that film Korg makes my laugh. One reason that I like him so much is because he is not afraid to tell some dad jokes and puns!

Valkyrie-Thor-Ragnarok

Valkyrie in Thor Ragnarok

Valkyrie:

Valkyrie is a no nonsense action hero who is portrayed by Tessa Thompson. Tessa was a fantastic fit for Valkyrie. She is sort of a wild card in the film. She always keeps us guessing. She is juggling a bunch of emotions in the film and you get to realize why during the movie.

We Valkyrie on Sakaar. She becomes a bounty hunter after her defeat at the hands of Hela. It was her way of getting past the pain of losing to Heal. She finds Thor and sells him to the Grandmaster, only to grow towards him when he told her of Hela’s new invasion of Asgard. Joining the Revengers, Valkyrie looks to help Thor try to defeat Hela.
