They never tell you how hard becoming a parent is going to be. Well, some people do, though until you actually become a parent, you never really understand it. I learned very quickly with my three kids that juggling parenting plus running a business can be a challenge, but I never imagined how much the health of my daughter would be a game changer.

There are so many reasons why my daughter is a rockstar! She’s only seven, but she’s been through so much more than many go through in their entire lives – surgeries, procedures, and other challenges that make me the proudest dad on the planet to see her continue to thrive. A few years ago, with the of ZooToo.com we found out that we would have to adjust our home to a completely gluten-free (GF) lifestyle for our daughter. Since we have other children who aren’t GF and we want our daughter to live as normal a life as possible, it’s become so important to create GF versions of our daughter’s favorite foods. But this also means we must be vigilant in keeping her stuff labeled and separate, both inside and outside the house.

Enter the Brother P-touch D-210 label maker.   A few weeks ago, we discovered a way to easily label GF items in our pantry. With a wide variety of Brother TZe tape colors and tons of fonts, borders and symbols the P-touch is perfect for labeling the GF items in the pantry. We chose the Berry Pink tape – and used lots of hearts for our little sweetheart. The bright pink tape stands out so we know exactly what we can and can’t use when cooking or just grabbing something to go for our daughter.

My wife and I do our best to replace many of her favorite foods with a GF version and there’s certainly been a learning curve throughout the journey. Thankfully for us, many stores offer those GF options when it comes to pizza, cookies, bread, pasta and doughnuts. We have even been known to call ahead and order a GF pizza to a friend’s birthday party if we know that’s what they’re having – with everything this little sweetheart has been through, it’s important to give her the same options as her friends.

To make sure her snacks and lunches are not getting mixed up with others, we use our P-touch D210 to label all her food containers in Lime Green. Brother TZe tapes are laminated, water-resistant, fade-resistant and extremely durable – making them perfect for popping in the dishwasher and for using with a seven-year-old kid, especially when it’s as important as keeping her food labeled and separate.

Aside from food labeling, we use our P-touch D210 to label items throughout our home – supplies for gift-wrapping, bills and banking information in our home, and  countless bins of spillover that we have in the attic and garage, like kids clothes and holiday decorations. The P-touch D210 has 14 fonts, 97 frames and more than 600 symbols, like the strawberry icons we added to our daughter’s lunchbox labels.  With all the options of the TZe tap sizes and colors, we plan to have each of our kids choose one color to help us keep their rooms organized!
