I am a big fan of voice actors. I feel that they can make or break a character. Some might take them for granted, but I really appreciate what it takes to make a character shine in an animated film. For Lea Delaria, who is the voice of Miss Fritter, she enjoyed breathing life into that character.

Lea felt that Disney PIXAR returned the favor by adding things to Mrs. Fritter in the movie that she really appreciated. The animators added some subtle touches to the look of Mrs. Fritter that mean a lot to Lea. The license plate had the town where she was from and there was even have a rainbow bumper sticker.

Lea had fun putting the finishing touches on Mrs. Fritter and she even has a hilarious short that you get watch on the bonus features for Cars 3. While I was in Charlotte, North Carolina for a Cars 3 Blogger event from Disney we got to preview the short. Let me just say we were all laughing at Mrs. Fritter’s short. We got to see more Mrs. Fritter and that is a good thing. If you loved the character in the film than I am guessing you and your family will enjoy the bonus short as much as we all did in Charlotte.

The next day we got to meet Lea and ask her a few questions about her role as Mrs. Fritter and  what she did to prepare for the role. Below are the questions I was able to ask her doing our Q & A session with her. She was such a delight and loved taking time to talk to us about one of her favorite roles to play.

Art Eddy: Especially with your personality I have to ask were you working with people in the booth for Cars 3 or were you in the booth by yourself?

Lea DeLaria: Yes and no, you’re never in a booth by yourself, okay? You’re not with the other actors, but you’re not by yourself, either. You’re with the animators. They’re all there while you’re recording, and they’re like, filming you. And they’re drawing you while you’re recording. That’s what they use, they institute that into the character’s face. So, the facial expressions and stuff, let’s say that Miss Fritter makes, the facial expression that I was making when I said the line. That’s why, that’s one of the reasons why their characters are so real. And then the writers are in the room.

The directors are in the room. The producers are in the room. So you’re not by yourself. You know, if you know what I mean. And they’ll throw you a line. They’ll say: this is what, you know, here’s what the character says and you say, so they’ll throw you that line, so you are working with people. Just not the other actors.

AE: But is it a lot tougher? With other actors you have some give and go when you’re working with others while you are doing a scene

LD : Have you ever met an actor? (Laughs.) No, no, it’s not… It’s, it’s not tougher. You only have to be on the set once and here the actor go, oh my character wouldn’t do that. Oh, I want to kill myself. Please don’t slow this shoot up anymore.

In Disney Pixar’s Cars 3 we see the legendary Lighting McQueen getting blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers led by arrogant hotshot Jackson Storm and McQueen is suddenly sidelined and pushed from the sport he loves. To get back on track, he’ll need the help of eager young racing technician Cruz Ramirez, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected twists and turns of fate.

Cars 3 is available on digital download today and on Blu-Ray and New on 4K UHD on November 7. I want to thank Disney for the awesome prize pack they sent me to host a fun movie night with my friends and family. We will have a Cars 3 party theme and plays some games after we are done watching the movie.

Please note: I was invited to a Cars 3 blogger event from Disney, but my thoughts are my own.
