INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT  NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

The Knife

This is the third time in the past 6 weeks of Playlist Elevated that a band from Sweden is the highlight, and I’m not targeting that area at all. Initially I was going to use this week to write about Trevor Hall. That is, until a few songs from The Knife came on and shifted my focus. Apparently I really love what the Swedes are doing (Miriam Bryant, Pale Honey). Brother and sister duo The Knife take synth pop and electronica, into darker and more artistic places than the genres usually go. Paired with excellent lyricism, some of their standouts are stunning, weird and completely unique. Their early song Heartbeats was covered wonderfully by Jose Gonzalez and is one of the few times where the original and the cover are equally beautiful. Check them out while I book my flight to Stockholm.
