As the march towards Father’s Day continues, today’s featured dad is a husband and father of two, Stephen Polutnik.  Here’s is Stephen’s bio in his own words:

PolutnikFather, husband, blogger. Probably listed in order of ability.  Grew up moving around the Midwest (mostly Ohio) as the middle child of two sisters (don’t try that at home). Big kid trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.   Sports, music and random trivia geek.  I can usually be found running with my headphones on or running after my kids.

My first memory as a father is… It’s easy to say the second I saw my daughter for the first time but probably the best first memory I have as a father was the first time I got my daughter to go to sleep after a screaming fit.  I walked around the neighborhood with her in a baby bjorn so it is probably the first memory for most of my neighbors as well.

The funniest thing my kids do is…
My son repeats my daughter all the time and when she gets mad at him for it he looks at her and says “TOOT” and runs off.  For some reason that cracks me up every time.

What’s in your man cave?
Hahaha…We moved last year and I thought I would be able to take over some of the basement as a “man cave” but it was overrun by toys before I even had the chance.  Speaking of moving…during the house search we would watch House Hunters and it seemed like the guy was only interested in two things a man cave and a double oven.  I don’t get it. Does the show make them say that or did only watch the 10 episodes that had that?  By the way, we totally have a double oven.

My wife is my hero because… She allows me to be a trophy husband.  My wife understands how hard it can be to be the overlord of 2 kids all day so when she gets home she jumps in right away and helps out.  I know her job can be hard on her but no matter what her day brings when she comes home she flips to mom mode in no time.

My most traumatic parenting experience was when… I gave my daughter “Nursemaid’s Elbow” basically by holding her hand and trying to catch her as she fell off of a step.  Called the doctor and they were full so they suggested we go to the emergency room.  In walks a “hospital administrator” asking me a bunch of questions trying to find out if I regularly hit my daughter or abuse her in any way.  That really freaked me out.

What sports team must your kids like?
My wife and I both went to Xavier so that is a given.  I’m originally from Cleveland…not sure if I want to pass the pain of being a Cleveland sports fan on to them.

What sports team can your kids never like?  tOSU otherwise known as Ohio State.  Why the little t?  The school insists on putting THE in front of their name.  Oh, and I am a Michigan football fan (Xavier’s football has been undefeated since 1973).

If fatherhood was a beer, which type of beer would it be and why?
Any good craft beer.  It takes so much time, effort and love to make a good craft beer.  Same goes with raising a kid.  The local brewery that is a half a block from my house, Half Acre, puts out fantastic beers…if you are ever in Chicago and want a good local beer I highly recommend them.

Describe your perfect Father’s Day.
We are constantly on the go on the weekends so probably just a day at home relaxing with the family.
