Captain’s Log.  Daddy Chronicles.  Diaper Date 1690.  It is coming.  The premiere of The Avengers – filmed in the Captain’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.  Stop snickering.  We were an All-American City.  A bunch of times.  And yes I know the river caught on fire, our football team was stolen by a city that had their football team run away, and some basketball player took his talents to another place.  It is still home.  And this is still an epic comic book movie. – filmed in the birthplace of Rock N Roll.

As a kid, the Captain wasn’t big into the comic books (he is now), but he was big into the characters.  He wanted to be the Hulk, and Spiderman, and Superman (D.C. I know).  Seeing these characters on screen makes the Captain 3 again, running around the house in underoos, with socks on his hand (don’t ask), and towels stuffed in his shirt (my muscles didn’t come until college).

I am assembling a crew to go and see the movie.  It  hopefully includes some family members (who are more like brothers, one is like a real live Captain America – the other is close to Tony Stark genius like) and a whole bunch of middle school teachers.  What is special about middle school teachers?  Well, the ones that I work with…dress up.  Fortunately, not in their underoos (Why don’t they make these for adults? I would totally buy some.) Last summer, I sat next to Captain America – who, when he wasn’t fighting the Nazis, taught Latin to students.  Who knew?  I have another colleague friend who is planning on going and she will definitely dress up.  All in all, it will be a fun time – especially at midnight.

Me?  Since my physique most resembles the Incredible Hulk (before he turns green) I am a bit at a lost.  Most theaters don’t allow you to watch movies bare chested.  No matter how much popcorn you can buy.  So, my only other alternative is Nick Fury. He’s a bad mother – shut your mouth.  I’m just talking about Fury…

Side note – I wonder what book Nick Fury reads to put his kids to sleep?  Hmmmm.  Anyways.

Any other Avengers aficionados?  Anybody else assembling? Which character best fits your persona?

Well, the Captain will be attending on “opening night”.  Not exactly a red carpet event, but fun nonetheless.  I will let you know if my team represented and give a brief review of the movie.

However, if you hear a loud clap of thunder around 2:30 a.m. EST, that means that I did not find favor with the movie and you should save your money.  And watch out for my hammer.

Captain out.  Assemble!
