Well, another successful celebration of American Craft Beer Week has come and gone. That doesn’t mean we have to stop honoring and enjoying craft beer, though. In the short 2-month tenure I’ve had here at Life of Dad, it has come to my attention that Dads certainly enjoy their beer. I appreciate all the great comments, letters and questions. I have also been made aware of the vast interest in the craft brewing scene. It’s no secret that creating and owning a brewery would be any Dad’s dream job…or least mine. But how does one get there? So this week, “The Week After American Craft Beer Week” (or “TWAACBW” for short), The Beer Guy will investigate and present a four-part series on craft brewing by telling the stories of four breweries in particular:
The Homebrewer: South OC Brewing – Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (Tuesday)
The Prospective Production Brewery: Arcade Brewery – Chicago, IL (Wednesday)
The New Brewery: Westfield River Brewing Company – Westfield, MA (Thursday)
The Expanding Brewery: Cismontane Brewing Company – Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (Friday)
I think you’ll find each of their stories to be unique and interesting in their own right. We visit Jeff Erickson, a homebrewer in our first piece. Then, the Windy City calls our name as we meet Chris Tourre, and the good folks at Arcade Brewery. While Arcade is in the process of funding the opening of a brewery, Westfield River Brewing Company just accomplished their opening a few weeks ago. Then, we head back across the country to where we started, and visit with Evan Weinberg of Cismontane Brewing Company, who recently announced and began expansion of their brewery on their 2-year anniversary.
So sit back, have a pint of your favorite craft beer and enjoy the journey The Beer Guy is going to take you on this week, “The Week After American Craft Beer Week.”
See you back here tomorrow, when we meet Jeff Erickson, of South OC Brewing.
